I’m Moritz Valero, a filmmaker with disabilities from Germany, living and working in Cologne (NRW) and London. Having been a former professional dancer and choreographer, I have experience in shaping performances in film and movement.

I trained at the NFTS (National Film and Television School) and MetFilm School London. I am also a Directors UK member.

Since graduating, I have been supported by Film London, Creativity Squared – Equal Access Network as well as The Media Trust & ScreenSkills where I am mentored by Sara Johnson (former VP of scripted at 20th Century Fox and now founder of Bridge06).

Most recently I have been awarded the prestigious “INSPIRE” Mentorship Program by Directors UK where I am mentored by director Jordan Hogg.

At the end of 2022, I directed 2nd Unit and shadowed on the new film “BLACK CAB” (not yet released) for Sony / Shudder.

Furthermore, in 2023 I shadow directed on the TV series “BLINDSPOT” (Channel 5) and on one of the biggest new HIGH-END-TV-SERIES for one of the leading streamers (not yet released).

Most recently, I have been selected to be part of the “ELEVATE” program at the BFI (British Film Institute).

I am currently working with renowned producer Jo Sargent (HotCoals Productions) towards my FIRST FEATURE:FRAGMENTS OF HER”.

Having seen and experienced the lack of disability representation and access/ support first-hand, I am passionate about improving disability matters in the industry – whether that is in front/ behind the camera or in storylines.

To push for positive change, I am also working for various organisations, such as Film London, at multiple NHS events and am also part of multiple focus groups such as the Disability Working Group at Directors UK.
