Studied German language and literature at Sophia University in Tokyo. Began her acting career in Japan, including as a member of the avant-garde theater group Romantica. International theater career with long-term, permanent ensemble engagements at venues including the Burgtheater in Vienna, Schauspiel Hannover, Schauspiel Köln, Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg, and Schauspielhaus Zürich. Collaborated with, among others, Christoph Schlingensief, Nicolas Stemann, René Pollesch, Christoph Marthaler, Karin Beier, and Katie Mitchell. At the same time, she increasingly took on acting roles in national and international film productions, as well as for television, including for MDR/KiKA, NDR, and WDR.

Many years of intensive study of Butoh as taught by Kazuo Ohno. Translator of German-Japanese theater texts. Founder of the “Hiroshima Salon” project. Workshops, lectures, and readings on the German theater scene in Japan. Significant contributions to artistic and cultural exchange between Japan and the German-speaking world, recognized with the 2026 JaDe Prize. Improvisation is one of her particular strengths as a performer.
